There is a time in every artist's life, where he feels the need to express himself in his own way, away from limitations and restrictions about his music.
Music producing or dj-ing as an artform has only a true meaning when it's unique and an honest expression of the artist's soul.
The Underground Vault Project mix series is an independent music project that you can find on mixcloud.com, soundcloud.com etc. and my own exrpession about the underground house music i love at most through the years of
listening, playing and researching house music. For many years i've been tossin and turning about what is my favourite house music style:
The classic chicago style or more the new yorican soulful style. I knew deep inside me that i could not decide at that time, so i kept loving and progressing
both styles. As many of us, somewhere in life we loose contact with music, but you can't really run away from your true love. You have to return for her.
In the past it was practically impossible to gather all information about records at one centralised point like discogs.com for example. You had to run
and spent time in many records stores, in different cities even countries, pre-order lists from distributors (which described the tracks as text !), DJ magazines
, listening to famous and infamous dj's and trying to find or ask for the tracks you like.
The way i feel house music after all this years, i could say that the more soulful/deep/garage/tribal New York house sound is very much connected and influenced by the original disco sound while
chicago provides the originality of house music. A fresh and more furious groove, that's how it started. Not as funky and polite as the disco sound, but strong and full of rhythm. Detroit, San Francisco, Paris etc were also influenced in the future by the Chicago House Sound.
After loosing total connection with the original house sound of the late 80s and 90s, there was a time when i knew it was possible
to turn back the time and make a true research on house music, and that was my motive to start spinning underground house music again.
Every mix in the Underground Vault Project contains it's own tracks, which is the result of a continous research in the legendary house music discography files and it's remarkable artists.
So here i am, presenting you a blast from the past, the music that touched my heart and soul more than any other.
Don't you ever forget : It's the "House" sound of chicago, that's the original house music. The real shit. No imitations, names or aliases.
